Ends & Knots

Some people make a knot after casting off. This is unnecessary
and is a problem when joining. All that is needed when casting off
is to cut a long thread and then gently pull the stitch with a
needle until the end comes through the last loop. The casting off is
secure without being knotted [pic 9].
