21: Vertical Seams (cont.)

After joining the first two stitches on the cast-on edge, catch the needle under the second bar from the edge, pull the yarn through and the catch the needle under the corresponding bar on the second side. Continue the seam, weaving the yarn from side to side [pic 8,9,10].

9: (right) The second stitch is on the lower piece.


10: Connect stitches alternating from side to side.

Join a few rows, then tighten and release the seam as with right side facing seams (see here) [pic 11].


11: The purl rows align perfectly. This piece has been knitted very loosely to show the stitches and rows, so the rows have clumped into pairs. This disappears when the knitting is firmer.
