ONLINE BOOK: How to Become an "Expert Knitter"

Knitted in garter stitch, a scarf with loads of character and easy to make.

After the cast-on-so-many-stitches-and-knit-so-many-rows scarves, take the next step on the style ladder.

The terrific thing about this pattern is that it will work with any yarn and any needles. Cast on the number of stitches that will give you the width you prefer and knit the length you like. Place the frills where you wish. You may even want to frill the whole scarf.

I knitted this scarf from 3 50gr balls of a yarn called Mikado, by SCHOELLER & STAHL, using 10 mm needles. A ball measured about 95 metres. There was very little yarn left over. Any medium or thick yarn will be suitable, but if there is a low yardage, or if you plan to make more frills, buy an extra ball. If you want to use very fine yarn, and fine needles, I can’t predict what you will need, but as you will only need about 3 or 4 balls, unless you decide to knit a shawl size, it’s not an earth-shattering problem. Be a devil... arrange to return any extra balls.
